Intensive Clothes Making (zoom)

This is an intensive course for people who have been doing SAORI weaving for a while but have not made any wearable items or not much. If you have made some items but you are not confident, if you want to know the basics, or if you have some difficulties for sewing your woven pieces, this course is also for you. If you can sew straight stitches on the machine, you are able to make a garment.
Mihoko will start with making paper patterns and teach the basic stitches of SAORI way of sewing. Then she assist you make wearable items such as a pullover vest/tunic, a jacket, and a dress. You need to work on your projects by yourself after learning the procedure to finish it and share it at the meetings. There will be 5 zoom meetings within 2 months. This is for people who commit doing it.
What you need :
-a working sewing machine, only straight stiches required
-sewing notions such as scissors, pins, a tape measure, and a marker
-a lot of SAORI handwoven fabric for making 4 items
-a working device for zoom meeting
-a camera/phone for taking pictures
-a washi tape
-a pair of paper scissors

At the first meeting on 6/30 Mihoko will explain the course, teach how to make paper patterns and the basic procedure of the first project. You don’t have any homework to do before. Mihoko will send you paper for making paper patterns.
